i believe that things did not go so well at the show and that as far as a show it was good. as far as judging it was not good.....i know that in certain classes things were not judged correctly.....they were judged on certain things and not an overall....there should have been more things looked at besides the trunk, and interior cleanliness....there should have been more than that incorporated in the judging for the cars.....and some scorecards were filled in cause they were left blank or something....to me thats not correct...is there a certain point must system??? do they start off with a certain amount of points and get them deducted as they find discrepancies??? or do they just put points for what they think they deserve? ? I'm lost here....am i missing something? certain classes were not even mentioned either....i was informed that it takes 3 to make a class and in one there were 5 and that class was combined with another so what happened? ?? there were not even enough trophies for this event so how will you have a show with not enough trophies??? hopefully next show will have these things that were addressed would be added and or fixed to the judging and to the overall of the upcoming shows that you will be holding

hey man the reason for the trophies is the last 2 years weve had to many trophies and weve lost money. We will get u a trophy if there wasnt enough that day. we doubled in size this year from last. we really wasnt expecting that, sorry about all the mixups and i hope u will come back next year, alot of things will be changed!

Ok...I sat and read this post a few times, trying to decide if I wanted to acknowledge it or not. And, I feel that I must.
I remember you coming up and voicing your opinion about things after the awards were given out; because I was the one who talked to you.
It's like I told you at the show, man. It really doesn't matter how many modifications you have to your vehicle...its the application and execution of those mods and most importantly the cleanliness of the vehicle that determines the particular score for each section. You rattled off a list of modifications that you had compared to the car that scored higher than you....so what? Evidently our judges favored the overall layout of the other vehicle over yours.
Each particular scoring section had a grade scale of either 1-5, 1-10 or 1-20 with ranges from "poor, fair, average, above average, good and excellent". Say for instance your flooring was OEM carpet...to me, that score is automatically an average range score. Now, based on that, if I see stains, worn fibers, dirt under your floor mats, etc etc...I will deduct the score down accordingly depending on what all I find. And this holds true for every section of the scoring sheet.
And the issue with the score sheet with random numbers placed across it...you were there when we reaveraged the sheet using the two scores that were given accurately. And even after removing the messed up sheet, your score still averaged around the same points.
I've been actively participating in car shows for about 10 years now. I've been to shows all over this area with many of them being very very big shows with STRICT scoring guidelines. NOPI Mini Truckin' Nationals, Indy Import & Truck Bash, Greenville Showfest, Havoc, etc. Our scoring is a walk in the park compared to the run down they give you.
I guess what I'm trying to get at here without going on too much is that it seems as if all you are interested in is who is going to go home with the bigger $5.00 piece of plastic. There is SO MUCH MORE to a car show than "whoever dies with the most trophies, wins" attitude most people have today. Car shows are for having fun with your friends, building comradery with your fellow hobbiests in this sport, and showing off something that you are proud of. It's not about 1st place or 2nd place or best of show...those are just added extras.
If you were out scored by a car that you felt didn't have as much as you...then guess what. Take that experience and reevaluate your car's layout and work on it's downfalls...and try again next time. And hopefully during all of this you will realize there's more to this life than who won the most trophies...

well to tell you the truth thats all i wanted to read....all i wanted to know is what i had asked. you may have well enough experience in car shows, but the shows that you named were for trucks (except for NOPI)
but your correct on being at a show is about building bonds with fellow members and friends that are in other clubs. that i believe is a true statement.
but it was not just me, there were more than people who were discouraged in the judging...not in my club but in other clubs that came from distant cities who were astonished at the outcome of the show.
i personally am not discouraged in not coming out the victor at the southern slam. in fact i am happy. due to the fact that as a club we placed well and stood out, we put our names out there and to me that is a great accomplishment.
like i said before i hope to see you at the next southern slam but if duty calls then i do regret that i will not attend
